The Death of Judas

Matthew and Acts describe completely different modes of death for Judas Iscariot.

Matthew 27:5

"And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself."

Acts 1:18

"Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out."

Analysis

In Matthew, Judas returns the money and hangs himself. In Acts, he keeps the money, buys a field, and dies by falling and bursting open. Apologists attempt to combine them (he hanged himself, the rope broke, and he fell), but the texts present distinct narratives.
