The Quranic shares for inheritance can add up to more than 100% of the estate.

Analysis
In a case where a man dies leaving a wife, three daughters, and two parents, the prescribed shares (1/8 + 2/3 + 1/6 + 1/6) sum to 1.125. Islamic jurisprudence invented the concept of "Awl" to reduce shares proportionally to fix this error.
